Description

A Derby tea bowl and saucer in the style of Bristol c.1775Description. A teabowl and saucer, probably manufactured by the Derby porcelain company, but made, almost certainly, as a replacement for a Bristol service. The design is consistent with Bristol pieces of the same period, but the look and feel of the porcelain and glaze is more or less identical to Derby pieces of the same period. The exact date of manufacture is difficult to determine, but the piece probably dates from the period 1775 85 Condition.

Two tiny rim nicks

with his trademark washed-out rose decoration

and flowerbud finials

There is discolouration to the spout

Heavy wear to the border gilded decoration and to part of the pattern

but does not appear to have been the subject of restoration
