Zedist Elder | Limited Edition PrintThe Elder is the second Zedist piece I painted. I had recently gone to an art exhibit in Chicago showing the works of African American artist John Biggers. His work stopped me in my tracks. His use of geometry and organic shapes was so stunning that I spent hours studying it. The face in this painting was in a photo he took of a tribal elder in Ghana. He looked wise and happy and I liked him immediately. This piece has perhaps the most accurate

The album was called Into the Eye and had an environmental cause

So I picked the most traditional subject I could think of

Puertecitos is a small town in Baja

Center panel of triptych celebrating the fertility and expanding consciousness of the human race

Scientists were saying they were losing their way home to the hive

the sperm cell is swimming towards the ovum from the left where it penetrates the cell wall and starts to unravel into a strand of DNA

How the spark of life is initiated and flawlessly combusts into something else grander than itself is one of the greatest mysteries we face

It's really fuzzy

an integrated society and inclusive approach to living among our fellow man

Trying to find some common ground among the two

More leaves but this time superimposed on a more ordered morphological background

What would we possibly be without its warmth and stability
