In January of 1989 Jon embarked on a winter trip that would take him from South Dakota to the East Coast without ever setting his wheels on an Interstate Highway

but occasionally Gail prevails upon her husband to cook trout for dinner

including this pioneer garden planted with hope and tenderness many years ago
