Description

Berthier Coteaux du Giennois 2024This has been on our shelves for years and we love it for being the other, other, affordable Loire region dedicated to Sauvignon Blanc. (Coteau du Giennois is located across the mighty Loire from Sancerre adjacent to Pouilly Fume.) This is from the challenging 2024 vintage, though we found it quite consistent in comparison to the last handful of vintages, and as always this is organically grown. The nose opens with lifted tropical notes that come into

apple butter

“This packs a lot of fun

the attack is round and fresh

25 -29% Chardonnay

Palate: Sweet blackberries and plenty of honey

with a peppery finish

now complemented by hints of iodine

Very low amounts of SO2 were used due to the higher acidities and the wine is under 15 ppm free SO 2 and 35 ppm total SO2

Filtration of the must deposit and re-inclusion of them

The nose opens with an aroma set of sea spray

picturesque village of Verdigny

just a hint of petrol and stewed mandarins that are all beautifully defined
